Problem
The ability to synchronize product data between trading partners, particularly from manufacturers to retailers, is increasingly critical to efficient commerce. The Global Data Synchronisation Network (GDSN) sets the standards for synchronizing data between trading partners, but ensuring that data is ready for GDSN, and is then used properly once received, can present significant problems.
- GDSN On-Ramp: Assembling and preparing data for synchronization can be an overwhelming problem. For manufacturers building an on-ramp to data synchronization, information exists in disparate systems and must be massaged into a standard form that can be used by the data sync recipients.
- GDSN Data Consumption: Data sync recipients must verify that the data they receive is not only correct, but in a format that meets their needs. Where it needs to be corrected, and more likely transformed and matched against existing data, the problems can be equally tough.
Solution
GDSN can communicate large volumes of data, but the DataLens System puts users in control of the data they both send and receive. For manufactures, it can understand and standardize information from many sources, then validate and restructure it into a GDSN-compliant form.
